RE: Request by D. Johnson to change LECP cruise mode format
Date: May 29, 1975
Attached are two suggested cruise mode formats, one in a 25 x 8 arrangement and another in a 50 x 8 arrangement. To facilitate making choices or suggesting modifications I have also attached: 1) a copy of the latest cruise mode format which was not suitable for implementation by FDS; 2) cruise mode rate group arrangement showing which rates are in each group; and 3) a table listing the rate telemetry allocation for each of the three formats and the allocation as initially requested.
The format changes have no impact on the hardware design and the choice has to be made on the basis of desired readout frequencies. However, testing would be less time consuming for the smaller (i.e., 25 x 8) format. Also the smaller format will probably be preferred by the FDS designers. For these reasons I recommend that the 25 x 8 format be used if the readout telemetry allocation is acceptable.
The motor step rate has to be adjusted so that motor steps after an integral number of formats have been read out.
